My Certifications and Background

During graduate school, I began working part time as a health and fitness coordinator at Friendly's Corporate Fitness Center in Wilbraham, MA (yes, home of Friendly's ice cream! In fact, the fitness center was the first Friendly's store - converted into a large fitness facility!) From there, I was offered my first full time position at Northeast Utilities working in their onsite fitness center in Berlin, CT. About a year and a half later I moved on to New Britain General Hospital in New Britain, CT as an exercise specialist in their Good Life Center, part of the Department of Health Promotion. There I spent nearly 5.5 years, designing exercise programs and monitoring folks from all walks of life... children, seniors, those with heart disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, and obesity.

My Philosophy

Often times we go through life with ailments and illnesses that are treated one dimensionally - we treat the body or the symptom, separating the body from the mind. We do not take into consideration other things that may be going on that may be adding to the situation, or may even be the root of it. We simply take a pill, get a shot, avoid a certain food, etc. At Millbrook Wellness, I use a humanics or spirit/mind/body approach - look at each person as a whole - and how the three systems interact.
